Whether you’re excited or not about Wild Swarm 2 likely depends on your last experience with the hive from Wild Swarm 1. It’s important to know that it is a pretty long grind to pop the hive, so if it then ends up paying poorly, it’s hard not to get irritated. But the hype during the build-up is immense, and when it does end up paying off, it’s a tremendous feeling.

The grand question is: Is enough changed in Wild Swarm 2 to make it a worthy sequel? We’d say so. The issue with the first game is that despite the very long grind, the mechanics of the bonus don’t really allow you to win any crazy amounts. You can, of course, be lucky and get an insane number of wildlines, but most of the time, you’ll struggle to win more than 500x in the swarm feature. That has changed completely here, as the multipliers offer substantially more potential. This also means that the game is more volatile, as more big wins requires less small wins. It did feel like the bonus was a bit harder to trigger, but we don’t have the data so it could just be bad luck. Nonetheless, if that’s the case, that’s perfectly fine. In Wild Swarm 1, the bonus was fairly easy to land, but it would often not pay well at all. Making the bonus a tad harder to land means that more potential can go into it. Lastly, we like that you’re unable to buy the Swarm Mode Feature, as that is the flagship feature of Wild Swarm and should work as a reward after a long grind.

All in all, Wild Swarm 2 is a strong game that has remained true to its core. Perhaps it hasn’t changed enough to make it an all-time great, but certainly enough to intrigue us!
