Although their animations and visuals are very similar to Hacksaw’s, it’s important to know that Backseat Gaming simply create games using Hacksaw’s OpenRGS platform. In other words, they are the masterminds behind products like The Cursed King and Lord Venom. Masterminds may not be a term that they’ve deserved yet, as we haven’t seen anything super groundbreaking coming out from the provider, but the average quality is certainly high.

The game takes place in space, but looking at the planets, it doesn’t appear to be in our solar system. In our opinion, the setting is rather dull, with not much going on, and the graphics are nothing extraordinary. With that said, it’s a cute theme with cute animals, so we’re not really bothered.

Space Zoo Slot Conclusion

Space Zoo could, perhaps, be Backseat Gaming’s best work yet. We weren’t too exhilarated upon entering the game, seeing the rather tame graphics and ordinary grid, but it turns out that the wheel can be tons of fun and elevates the game beyond the visuals. We also want to point out that Space Zoo doesn’t look bad whatsoever. In fact, it looks pretty neat; we just didn’t find it spectacular. 

What was close to spectacular, however, was the gameplay. The Bonus Game and Wheel of Fortune both seemed relatively frequent, not leaving you unoccupied for too long. And even if you get bored, the Featurespins can be activated at a solid price of double your bet, making the Free Spins very frequent. Now, what makes the game really enjoyable is the Wheel. Wilds, removed symbols, and cash prizes might not sound super exciting, but they’re implemented in a way where they work so well with each other, adding strength to each other. Although playing demo mode, we found ourselves really excited when we landed a 3 on the Wheel, knowing that things were about to go down. 

The game just goes to show that you don’t have to decorate a slot game with a crazy visual production and mechanics that require a PhD. Simple games with a cute theme work wonders!
