We’re used to Lightning Box making different kinds of video slots, from the leprechaun story Murphy’s Pots to the scary Raven’s Reveal in a cemetery. Blood and Gold is, just like Raven’s Reveal, definitely not a children’s tale. It gets bloody in the Battle Rounds, which resembles a respins feature with a twist. Instead of having 3 spins that can be reset, does the player keep his 3 lives as long as the fights are won. It’s a nice way to approach a bonus feature, although it’s annoying to land several highly valuable scatters just to lose them in the next fight.

The Battle Rounds feature is innovative and different from many other games by letting the player choose a team. However, it feels like it’s not really enough, and we would have appreciated something more like free spins. The max win of 3091X isn’t impressive either for a highly volatile game.
